Procedures to enhance the buttocks continue to rise across the US. According to statistics from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, procedures that enhance the backside were the fastest-growing cosmetic procedures in 2015. On average, a buttock procedure was performed every 30 minutes of every day in the US! As the statistics show, many people have turned to plastic surgery to give them the more shapely, full backside that mother nature wasn’t able to give them.
Butt Augmentation in Denver
There are three different surgical methods to enhance the size, shape, and overall appearance of the buttocks. Only your plastic surgeon and yourself will be able to decide which one is the best one for you.
The surgeries are:
- Augmentation with fat transfer
- Butt implants
- Surgical lifting and tightening of sagging buttock tissue and skin
We’ll describe the finer points of each technique below. If you’re interested in butt enhancement, we encourage you to arrange a consultation with one of the experienced plastic surgeons at Grossman Plastic Surgery. During that consultation, we can determine if you are a good candidate and help you choose the right method.
What is a Brazilian Butt Lift?
The Brazilian butt lift, or BBL, is the procedure that has gained the most popular in recent years. In this procedure, your own excess fat is removed, then cleaned and injected into strategic locations of the buttocks.
According to ASPS statistics, the fat transfer technique is the most commonly performed butt augmentation, with 18,489 procedures completed in 2016 and increasing 26% since 2015.
One of the reasons many patients opt for this technique is that it is all-natural and utilizes your own fat cells and nothing else – no artificial materials or prosthetics. Once completed, your Brazilian butt lift gives you both a lift and a roundness to your assets.
What About Butt Implants?
Buttock implants are what many people think of when they think of this type of surgery. Although implants are artificial prostheses, the results achieved by our surgeons won’t look fake. They use ultra-soft silicone implants, which have a natural look and feel once placed beneath the muscles of the buttocks.
Butt implants continue to be a popular method of augmentation. In 2016, 2,999 such procedures were completed, an increase of 18% from the previous year.
In particular, implants work well for people who do not have enough extra fat available to complete the Brazilian butt lift. In these cases, butt implants may be the favored option.
The Surgical Butt Lift
This technique is generally used when someone has a lot of sagging, deflated, excess skin hanging from their buttocks. Such excess skin is common after major weight loss.
During the procedure, the surgeon makes an incision through which he removes the excess skin, fat, and tissue. The remaining tissue is then re-shaped and re-draped to form a tauter, smoother contour which will give you better definition and smoother skin.
There were 4,251 buttock lifts performed last year, which is a decline of 11% compared to 2015. Even though the numbers have not been on an incline, it still remains a good option for certain people. The surgical lift, unlike the other two procedures, does not add volume. It only removes excess tissue and reshapes the buttocks.
