What Are Temporal Implants?
Temporal implants are soft, flexible, and made of silicone. Placed below the skin on the temples, they create fullness and an aesthetically pleasing facial shape. The procedure to place them is usually completed in about 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the specifics of each surgery.
Barring any complications, which are rare, your results should be permanent. Temporal implants are also reversible, should you ever decide you do not want them or you want to replace them.
A small incision is made along the hairline, through which the implant will be placed. This is a great way to replace fat below the skin that has diminished or fallen from the temples, distorting the shape of your face and the definition of your facial contours. Like fat that descends from the cheeks, the sinking of fat from the temples can cause hollows and an older appearance.
Sometimes dermal fillers are used for temporal augmentation. While that works in some cases, it does require many units of filler. The results are also less precise than those achieved with implants. Perhaps most importantly, silicone implants are permanent, while fillers begin to diminish after a few months.
